Under Window Terminal Reheat Unit

Under Window Terminal Reheat Unit

M&I meets Ontario Ministry of Health Requirements

Background

As the requirements for the comfort of the patient evolved from strictly heating with opening of windows for ventilation to proper air-conditioning, the mode of air conditioning changed starting in the mid 1960s from fan coil units to dual duct or induction to single duct, and single duct with variable air volume to single duct terminal reheat using low temperature hot water.

The dual duct is considered an expensive energy user. The induction induces room air across two patients in a two-bed ward, and is considered to be unsatisfactory from the infection control standpoint. Similarly, any air introduced from the corridor side has had the adverse effect of cross infection.

The Ontario Ministry of Health has therefore recommended an under window terminal unit using a reheat coil to be dry at all times so as not to promote bacteria growth. The air distribution is directed upwards at minimal velocity so as to reduce air movement to the airstream and thus minimize cross infection.

M&I'S Unit Meets All These Requirements!

Distinctive Features

Designed and developed by M&I to overcome "Legionnaires" disease and other virus related problems in Hospitals and Health Care Centres.

Available for both under window and ceiling installations.

Dry -therefore no bacteria growth.

Low noise. Energy Efficient.

No field calibration required.

5" connection - no fire damper required.

Custom built to meet customers' specific requirements.

No control air line required to make M&I valve pressure independent.

In case of power failure, unit operation remains unaffected because no control air being used.

Typical Dimensional Data

Dimensional Data

1 - modified M&I pressure independent air valve
2 - Reheat coil 190mm x 508mm-2R12 (heating coil to be based on engineer's specifications)
3 - 20 GA. galvanized steel casing

Note:
Under Window Terminal Reheat Units are custom-built by M&I.
Dimensions may, therefore, vary to meet customer requirements.
